Hey everyone!

Mac Lip Pencil Plum

Today I’m reviewing *ahemm* my most expensive lip pencil till date! I was recommended this lip pencil by the MUA when I did my MAC make-up training. I didn’t buy it then, and I dunno why I bought it the last time I went to MAC. Anyways, here’s my take on the Plum lip pencil from MAC.

About M.A.C. Lip Pencil- Plum: A pencil designed for shaping, lining or filling in the lip. Lip Pencils have a smooth, creamy texture that is perfect for lining the lips or filling them in. They are long-lasting and available in a wide selection of colours that each work well with many different lipstick shades.

My take on M.A.C. Lip Pencil- Plum: MAC describes ‘Plum’ as ‘potent reddened plum’
You all know by now that I have pigmented lips, and I am always on the lookout for products which can help neutralize the pigmentation on the lips, and help other lighter colors show through. When I attended the MAC make-up training, the MUA suggested I opt for the Plum lip pencil as a base for my lips (I don’t think my lips are plumy, but still, that’s how colors work). So I bought this pencil some time back, and I am in love with the shade ever since. It’s a gorgeous reddish-brown lip pencil, not really a plum on swatching. It is smooth in application, and soft (does not pull the skin on the lips as it glides), and the pigmentation is great. One swipe, and you have a lot of color.
I use it to line the lips, and to fill in too, since I mainly use this one as a base. Sometimes, I let the gorgeous color show through, and just apply a hint of clear gloss on top, so the lip-liner turns to a creamy lipstick. The texture alone may be a bit drying on the lips, but then lip liners are meant to be that way! If you love a lip-liner as such, a gloss or balm on top is a must!

The staying power is a good 6+ hours on me, with meals in between. It does fade a bit with time, though. It also increases the staying power of other lipsticks when worn under them.

My only grudge with this product is that some product always gets wasted when the pencil is sharpened, and that really pinches me in the heart (it’s a MAC lip pencil, afterall. Wastage will hurt!).

Anyways, I love how this shade works for my NC-45 skin-tone, and I guess the shade will look even more gorgeous on those with lighter skin tone or with non-pigmented lips.

In the below pic, I have worn this lip pencil over a coat of balm on my lips:

· Gorgeous shade
· The shade works as a nice base color for those with pigmented lips
· Stays for a good 6+ hours

· Some product gets wasted each time you sharpen the pencil

I’m not listing ‘texture’ as a con, since lip liners are meant to be a little dry. Also, price, for obvious reasons!
Verdict: If you are looking for a base lip-pencil for your pigmented lips, do try this one! Totally worth the money!
