MADE IN THE U.S.A.

We manufacture barrels that are Match grade quality with bench rest capability. Our barrels do not require lead lapping or extensive shooting to break in.

BORE DIMENSION QUALITY CONTROL
After the rifling has been CUT, a carbide bore-sizing die is pulled through the barrel to insure bore dimension continuity and to eliminate any tight or loose spots inside the barrel. This critical procedure leaves the top of the lands smooth and polished, equaling the traditional lead lapping procedure.

CNC RIFLING MACHINE:
Our proprietary infinitely variable CNC rifling machine uses a traditional Springfield type rifling head to single hook CUT each groove.

CALIBERS:
32, 36, 40, 45, 50, 54, 58, 62 rifled or smoothbore.

GROOVES:
Round bottom CUT rifling .016 deep. Standard in swamp barrels. Square bottom CUT rifling to .012 deep.

NUMBER OF GROOVES:
32, 36, 40 - 6 groove
45 to 62 - 7 groove

TWIST RATE:
32 and 40 - 1/48
45 to 54 - 1/66
58 and 62 - 1/66 - 1/72
NOTE: Other twist optional at additional charge of $30. Delivery time may be extended.

CROWNING:
60 degree lathe cut and polished.

PLUGS:
Swamp barrels fitted with flared tang flint plugs, which are manufactured by Quality Machine and Tool. Each plug is hand fit and timed. This ensures the shoulder of the plug and the inside breech shoulder mate at precisely the same time sealing the breech 100%.

Muzzle

PLUG SIZE:
32 thru 45 caliber plug size is 5/8-18.
50 thru 62 caliber plug size is 3/4-16.

STRESS RELIEVING:
Each barrel blank is heat treated in an electric furnace. This procedure eliminates stress and warpage, helping to control harmonic vibrations and/or barrel whip.

PROFILING:
Barrels are machined between centers on a CNC milling machine. We do not bow or arch the barrel in order to machine the profile. Eliminating straightening.

POLISHING:
All barrels come with the outside flats polished to 120 grit. (pistol barrels not included)

DOVETAILS (Optional):
All Rice Barrels have the option of being dovetailed in-house for an additional costs of $20. All dovetails are cut to Jim Chambers kit locations only. The locations are historically correct and astetically pleasing. No custom widths or locations. We do not cut the rear sight. With each dovetailed barrel, the customer is assured that the front sight will be 3/8 wide X .055 deep. Underlugs 1/2 wide X .050 deep.
